How it all started…
Kathie grew up on a small farm near Truro, and had a passion for documenting life through pictures from a young age. At 15 she became an active member of the Cornwall Young Farmers movement, competing at County and National level. At the age of 22 Kathie followed her passion to travel and went to work abroad as a private nanny. Always with a camera to hand, she documented her life with the children living in switzerland, and on return to the UK decided to take it up on a more serious level.
She purchased her 1st Digital SLR (the Sony A300) and began ad-hoc work for friends photographing children, pets and horses. With growing interest in her work, Kathie realised a website would be helpful, and Tyack Photography was born. As a Cornwall Young Farmer, Kathie chose ‘Tyack’ as it means ‘farmer’ in Cornish.
Keen to photograph her favourite subject, Kathie took her camera along to friends weddings. There was plenty of opportunity with The Young Farmers movement – which is often referred to as ‘The Marriage Bureau’. Once again her work was quick to catch peoples eye, and in 2009 she was commisioned for her first wedding.
With affordable packages on offer, Tyack Photography grew quickly. It became necessary to expand the team to meet the demand. With an all female team, Tyack photography is now able to cover more events and offer more packages.
The Tyack team are people orientated. They realise that it takes patience and endless energy to photograph children (along with mild bribery!) A calm, unobtrusive attitude to photograph nervous brides, and a fun upbeat personality to photograph a wedding. They will make sure that you come away with a set of photographs which capture the natural mood of the shoot, and serve as memories for a lifetime.
